Investigations
We understand that every person's eye is unique as they are. At an appointment, our Orthoptists and Ophthalmologist may require some investigations to be performed so they can better evaluate your eye condition. Below are some examples of test we perform.
Fundus Fluorescein Angiogram
This is a diagnostic procedure that uses a fluorescent dye and a specialised angiographic camera to record the blood flow and circulation in the retina.
An angiogram is obtained by photographing the fluorescence emitted after illuminating the retina with blue light. Fluorescein angiograms are useful for tracking the course of a disease and monitoring treatment results. They are particularly useful in the management of diabetic retinopathy and macular degeneration.
The actual procedure will take 10 – 20 minutes.
Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT)
OCT is a non-invasive imaging test. It uses light waves to take cross-section pictures of your retina. It allows your eye specialist to see each of the retina’s distinctive layers, and they can map and measure their thickness. These measurements help with diagnosis. They also provide treatment guidance for glaucoma and disease of the retinal.
The actual procedure will take 10 – 20 minutes.
Visual Field Test
A visual field test is a subjective measure of central and peripheral vision, or “side vision,” and is used by your specialists to diagnose, determine the severity of, and monitor your glaucoma and other eye problems. The most common visual field test uses a light spot that is repeatedly presented in different areas of your peripheral vision.
The actual procedure will take 10 – 20 minutes.
